Helmsley Grantees Receive IBD Scientific Achievement Awards

At this year’s Advances in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Conference, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America honored two Helmsley-supported scientists with the 2015 IBD Scientific Achievement Awards.

Dr. Balfour Sartor, Professor of Medicine, Microbiology and Immunology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and PI in the SHARE network, received the Henry D. Janowitz Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Gary Wu, Professor in Gastroenterology at the University of Pennsylvania and PI in the CCFA Microbiome Consortium, received the Scientific Achievement in Basic IBD Research Award for his ongoing work to investigate dietary effects on the intestinal microbiome.
