Robert Williams is the Controller at the Helmsley Charitable Trust. As Controller, Robert is responsible for developing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with sound and prudent financial policies and practices consistent with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the goals of the Helmsley Charitable Trust. Robert is also responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the system of internal controls over financial processes and systems, participating in critical financial accounting transactions, overseeing financial reporting, tax reporting, and filing and regulatory compliance, as well as managing a collaborative accounting team. Robert originally joined Helmsley as a Senior Accountant in the fall of 2011, bringing over 14 years of nonprofit experience in accounting and finance.
Prior to joining Helmsley, he was the director of financial analysis and strategy and the director of finance and administration at New Leaders, a nonprofit organization with a mission of ensuring high academic achievement for all children; and he served as the senior accountant at Jobs for the Future, a nonprofit organization with a mission to identify, develop, and promote education and workforce strategies that expand opportunities for youths and adults.
Robert received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts at Boston and a Master of Business Administration from Fordham University.
