A map of the intestine following regulatory T cell infusion into patients with active Crohn's Disease at single-cell and spatial resolution
Regulatory T cells (Tregs) are specialized immune cells that prevent an overactive or pathogenic immune response, and defects in Tregs are associated with an unchecked immune response in CD patients. This project will characterize changes in inflammation and the intestinal epithelium following infusion of autologous, polyclonal Tregs targeted to the intestine of Crohn's disease patients. The goal of the study, complementing a first-in-human clinical trial, is to identify key biological mechanisms driving Crohn's disease.
