Hillel Yaffe Medical Center inaugurated a new and modern facility spanning approximately 1,800 square meters, offering a significant upgrade in treatment capabilities, availability, patient safety, and comfort. The facility includes four surgical procedure rooms equipped with the most advanced medical technology, as well as a modern and innovative Eye Institute that will provide patients with a professional and comfortable treatment experience.
Until now, the hospital’s ophthalmology services operated in an outdated and cramped facility that could no longer meet the growing demand for eye care. The new facility brings real change: 28 modern, spacious rooms equipped with some of the world’s most advanced medical technologies — more than quadrupling the previous infrastructure. Enabling a significant reduction in waiting times for examinations and surgical procedures.
A Patient-Centered Environment for Patients and Families
The new institute places the patient experience at the center, aiming to make the medical process more pleasant and comfortable. The waiting areas are spacious and welcoming, tailored for diverse groups, including children and accompanying family members. The new facility brings together all eye care services and treatments under one roof, significantly easing the process for patients and their families—especially among the elderly population, who require maximum accessibility and comfort. The institute includes consultation rooms, advanced examination and treatment rooms, surgical procedure rooms equipped with the latest cutting-edge technology, as well as a spacious reception and waiting area for the benefit of patients and their companions.
“When it comes to the eyes, prolonged waiting times can worsen conditions and even lead to the risk of blindness, so treatment availability is critical,” explained Dr. Beatrice Tiosano, Director of the Ophthalmology Department at Hillel Yaffe. “I want to thank the Helmsley Charitable Trust for its generous donation, which allows us to continue providing our many patients with the most professional and advanced care in a comfortable and welcoming environment.”
A Hospital-Wide Impact
“The new facility enables us to provide patients with the most advanced services under one roof, in a modern, innovative, and welcoming environment equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment,” said Prof. Miki Dudkiewicz, Director of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center. “In addition to the significant improvement in facilities and appointment availability, transferring surgical procedures to modern, dedicated rooms in the new facility will free up space in the main operating rooms and allow for a substantial reduction in wait times for patients requiring complex surgeries in other medical fields.”
“Helmsley is pleased to have enabled Hillel Yaffe Medical Center to expand with a new Eye Institute and ambulatory surgical suites. The hospital’s Ophthalmology Department is considered a leader in its field in Israel, and this spacious and modern facility will only further enhance its capabilities,” said Sandor Frankel, a Trustee of the Helmsley Charitable Trust.
