Helmsley Trustee Walter Panzirer recently sat down with Nevada Week’s host Amber Renee Dixon on Vegas PBS to discuss Helmsley’s work in Nevada over the past five years, including the recent grand opening of Nevada State Park’s Valley of Fire Visitor Center.
“I’m a firm believer that everybody needs to have access to open spaces, access to the outside, and to take mental health breaks out in the open. With the opening of the new Valley of Fire Visitor Center, it allows people to better access their parks, to get out there, and to know what opportunities are available at the Valley of Fire.”
This project is the latest step in Helmsley’s goal to level the playing field in equitable access to healthcare in rural Nevada – with projects spanning investments in ECMO, AEDs, and mental health responses initiatives.
“Where philanthropy can come in and be so impactful is in taking those risks and bringing in new, sustainable service lines. When the Helmsley Charitable Trust brings a service line, we look to make sure that the hospital can afford to keep on running it, even when the grant runs out.”
