Achieving Remission in IBD: Optimizing Treat-to-Target in Clinical Practice
Studies have shown that a Treat-to-Target (TTT) treatment strategy improves both symptomatic remission and mucosal healing and minimizes the risk of disease-related complications; however, clinicians face many barriers that limit its uptake and implementation. Researchers will execute a pragmatic study to determine the feasibility of implementing a TTT protocol in clinical practice and to assess its impact on achieving mucosal healing. Concomitantly, researchers will conduct a quality improvement initiative to identify interventions that successfully overcome TTT barriers. If successful, the proposed project will demonstrate the effectiveness and overall value of utilizing a TTT treatment strategy and improve the quality of life for IBD patients by equipping providers and patients with the necessary tools to overcome existing barriers to optimal management of IBD.
