Project Title

Identifying Facilitators and Barriers to Close Disease Activity Monitoring in Treat-to-Target care in Crohn's Disease.

Project Description

This project aims to enhance the management of Crohn's Disease (CD) by identifying key factors influencing adherence to Crohn's Disease Activity Monitoring (CDAM) among patients. Investigators will conduct parallel retrospective cohort studies using data from the Veterans Health Administration and the Colorado All-Payers Claims Database. Their primary objectives are to assess adherence rates to biochemical monitoring (C-reactive protein and fecal calprotectin) and structural assessments (endoscopy or enterography) for individuals initiating new advanced therapies. Investigators will also quantify healthcare utilization associated with non-adherence and evaluate the related costs. The insights gained from this research will inform the development of targeted interventions aimed at improving adherence to CDAM, ultimately enhancing patient care, reducing healthcare costs, and optimizing monitoring practices in CD management.
