Project Title

Genomic and Microbial Signatures Predict Post-Operative Crohn's Disease Outcomes

Project Description

Physicians lack the tools to identify which patients undergoing bowel resection are at greater risk of post-operative recurrence of Crohn's disease. The goal of this grant is to gain a better understanding of the pathophysiology and mechanisms of post-operative Crohn's disease recurrence and to identify molecular and microbial signatures that are predictive of a patient's risk for post-operative recurrence. If successful, this project will provide diagnostic tools to identify Crohn's disease patients at risk for post-surgical disease recurrence and advance our understanding of the underlying mechanisms influencing Crohn's disease recurrence.
