Bringing Clean Water to Children in Zambia

Waterborne diseases cause millions of deaths each year, and in Zambia, five million people lack access to clean drinking water, a serious health risk for many children.

To combat these problems, Helmsley’s Vulnerable Children in Sub-Saharan Africa Program is supporting WaterAid’s efforts to bring clean water to remote areas of Zambia where it is greatly needed. By fixing broken water and sanitation infrastructure and building 130 new wells in schools and communities, 50,000 more people now have access to clean water. Because children and teachers can now rely on a safe, reliable source of water at school, student enrollment has also increased.

This video shows local schools in Zambia benefiting from new, improved water infrastructure built by WaterAid.
