Improving Maternal Health with Clean Water Access in Zambia

Only 1 in 5 rural healthcare facilities in Zambia has running water, decent toilets, and soap for handwashing. Without these essentials, patients, newborns, new moms, and frontline staff are at great risk of infection and disease.

With support from Helmsley, WaterAid is working with rural health centers throughout Zambia to develop water infrastructure at critical points of care. Staff and patients that once had to walk long distances to collect water can now turn on a tap and rely on clean water piped directly to the clinic.

Watch how WaterAid worked with the Sinde Rural Health Center and hear from staff like Olice on how clean water has changed her work and helps provide a cleaner, safer more pleasant environment for herself and for patients.
