Reuters and several other prominent outlets highlighted Helmsley-funded research carried out by Health Action International (HAI). This study was published in Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology In November 2018. HAI found that as the demand for insulin increases due to the accelerating incidence of diabetes, half of people with diabetes will not be able to access insulin by 2030. This massive shortage, which would have a horrendous impact for millions of people, demands prompt and widespread action.
