Carolina Hidalgo is the Digital Communications Officer at the Helmsley Charitable Trust, where she leads digital strategy across program areas, produces multimedia content, and strengthens audience engagement.
Carolina has 15 years of experience producing multimedia content and driving digital engagement in newsrooms and nonprofits. As a senior producer at WNYC, Carolina led editorial strategy for the NPR station’s award-winning public storytelling initiative while reporting, producing, and editing stories that helped audiences understand issues such as housing policy, justice reform, and public health. More recently, she led social media and outreach for P.S. Weekly, an education podcast from The Bell and Chalkbeat New York.
Earlier in her career, Carolina was a multimedia journalist at St. Louis Public Radio, where she helped expand the station’s digital presence and led visual storytelling across platforms. She has taught at CUNY’s Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, reported from the U.S.-Mexico border as part of an International Women’s Media Foundation fellowship, and received national recognition for her work in audio and photojournalism.
Carolina graduated from Stony Brook University with a B.A. in Journalism and Sociology.
