Michelle Tsai is a Communications Officer at the Helmsley Charitable Trust, driving strategic communications and thought leadership for Helmsley’s Rural Healthcare, Israel, and Vulnerable Children in Sub-Saharan Africa Programs.
Michelle has 20 years of experience in nonprofit communications and journalism. Prior to joining Helmsley, she was the director of marketing and communications at iMentor, where she led message development, thought leadership, and content strategy for the mentoring nonprofit. Before iMentor, she served as the public affairs officer for the NYU School of Law, spearheading social media strategy and working with faculty, research centers, and law school clinics to promote scholarship and advance the public discourse around various academic legal issues.
Earlier in her career, Michelle was a Slate columnist, a venture capital reporter for Dow Jones, and an independent journalist in Beijing for U.S. and U.K. media outlets. She received the Mary Elvira Stevens Traveling Fellowship to pursue the trail of Chinese immigrants across the globe.
Michelle graduated from Wellesley College with a B.A. in English and Latin.
