Dr. Sangmi Sarah Park is an Associate Program Officer for the Helmsley Charitable Trust’s Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) Program. She manages a biomedical research grant portfolio that investigates the discovery and development of novel therapies for T1D.

Prior to joining Helmsley, Sangmi earned her Ph.D. at SUNY Downstate School of Public Health where her research focused on studying the impact of T1D and hyperglycemia in the lungs. While at McGill University in Montreal, she earned a Master of Science degree and studied the association between reduced nephron numbers and the progression of diabetic nephropathy.

She has also worked as a research assistant and earned her Bachelor of Science in biology at University of Toronto, Canada.
In her free time, Sangmi loves to bake and travel.
