Associate Program Officer
Dr. Terry Felton is an Associate Program Officer for the Helmsley Charitable Trust’s Crohn’s Disease Program. In this role, Terry supports the diagnostics portfolio of grants that aim to identify, validate, and develop biomarkers in Crohn’s disease, as well as diagnostic tools and devices.
Terry has over 10 years of academic research experience focused mainly on neuronal development. Before joining Helmsley, Terry was a graduate student at the University College London where he identified genes that regulate neuronal specification. Terry was also a Howard Hughes Medical Institute fellow at Columbia University, where he researched genetic pathways that initiate neural cell type identities.
Terry earned his Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology from the University College London, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from Xavier University of Louisiana. Terry’s hobbies include cooking, camping, and watching American and European Football.
