Helmsley Charitable Trust Names Jacqueline F. Bausch as Next General Counsel

NEW YORK, NY, March 31, 2022 – The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust announced today that Jacqueline F. Bausch will serve as its next General Counsel.

Ms. Bausch comes to Helmsley from her role as General Counsel at Urban Pathways, a nonprofit organization providing social services and supportive and transitional housing to homeless and at-risk adults in the New York metropolitan area. She previously served for more than 20 years in various legal roles, including Acting General Counsel, for The New York Public Library, an education corporation with an annual budget of over $300 million, a staff of more than 2,000 employees, four research centers, and 88 branches throughout the city.

“Jacqueline Bausch is a highly respected leader in the nonprofit legal community across New York City,” said Sarah Paul, CEO of the Helmsley Charitable Trust. “She is an experienced and talented lawyer who will bring enormous intelligence and good judgment to her position. We could not have found a better person to take on this role as we work to build an even stronger Helmsley in the coming years.”

Ms. Bausch will start as Helmsley’s General Counsel on April 4, succeeding Sarah Paul, who transitioned to the role of CEO late last year.

“I have admired Helmsley’s mission and grantmaking since its inception more than a decade ago and share its commitment to creating stronger, healthier futures for people no matter where they live,” said Ms. Bausch. “My career has been mission-driven, and I’m thrilled to bring my experience and passion for making a difference to Helmsley.”

Ms. Bausch has more than 25 years of experience practicing law. She started her career at Davis Polk & Wardwell, where her work as a trusts and estates lawyer included advising private foundations, private operating foundations, and public charities. Ms. Bausch graduated from the University of Virginia and received her J.D. from New York University School of Law.
